Gerald Schroeder

Gerald Edward Schroeder, 80, of La Valle, Wisconsin, and Lynchburg, Virginia, passed away on March 29, 2025. He was the son of the late Gilbert and Anita Schroeder, of Loganville, Wisconsin, and the husband of Lisbeth N. Schroeder for 23 years.

Jerry was born on May 26, 1944, in Reedsburg, Wisconsin. He attended school at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville and earned his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. He worked for the Federal Highway Administration as a Bridge Engineer until his retirement in 2005. After retirement, he continued to teach Fastener Training classes all over the United States with Fish and Associates.

Jerry was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Mauston where he served on many committees. He was a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity and Mauston Community Sharing Pantry. He was always willing to help anyone in need and was an expert craftsman who could build just about anything!

Jerry is survived by his wife, Lisbeth; his siblings: Janet Klipp, Doris (and Bill) Frazer, Philip Schroeder, and Allen (and Jean Wendt) Schroeder; his stepchildren: Joyce (and Steve Selby) O’Quinn and Janis (and Felix) Vajdos; and his grandchildren: Maz Selby, Benjamin Vadjos, Hugh Selby, Jessica Vajdos, and Nikolas Vajdos. He also had close relationships with his nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on April 28, 2025, at 11 am at Bethany Lutheran Church, Mauston, Wisconsin, with the Rev. Jerry Staeling officiating.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Mauston Community Sharing Pantry.
