Gertrude Virginia Simpson Duval

Gertrude Virginia Simpson Duval, 94, of Forest, VA passed away Friday, May 31, 2024. She was the loving wife of William “Bill” Barney Duval, Jr., for 67 years and 11 months.
 
 Gertrude was born in Lovingston, Virginia on December 30, 1929, to the late Nolan Elmo Simpson and Etta Higginbotham Simpson.  She was the bookkeeper for Duval Auto Parts for many years.
 
 She is survived by a daughter, Linda Maxine D. Harr, and her husband Bill of Forest; a son, William Kevin Duval of Lynchburg; two grandchildren, Caroline Harr Shockey and her husband Ryan; and William Brandon Duval and special friend Sarah Holloman. Also, a lifelong, and devoted friend Frances Perkins of Lynchburg.

 At Gertrude’s request, a private graveside service was held at Fort Hill Memorial Park with pastor Sue Keen officiating. The family would like to thank Bedford County Nursing Home for the care and compassion they provided Gertrude over the last year.
