Gertrude LeWarne Wells, 95, died Sunday, May 13, 2018. Born in Prince Edward County, she was raised by Hunter and Eva Jamerson with her brother Kenneth Jamerson in Spout Spring, Virginia.
Gertrude was predeceased by her husband William “Bill” Wells, Eva and Hunter Jamerson; brother, Kenneth Jamerson; and several other siblings. She is survived by a sister, Rachel Turpin of Big Island; and sisters-in-law, Ruth Elder and Betsy Jamerson.
Gertrude graduated from Appomattox High School. She was employed by Montgomery Ward’s Department Store until she met Bill and they were married. They established and operated Bill’s Pastry Shop until they retired.
For the past three years Gertrude was a resident of the Elms and the family would like to express their appreciation for the care she received.
Gertrude loved her dogs, therefore in lieu of flowers please consider memorial gifts be made to the Lynchburg Humane Society.
There will be a graveside service held at Fort Hill Memorial Park on Friday, May 18, 2018, at 11 a.m. The family will receive friends following the service.
