Gilbert Clayton “Gibo” Luck, Jr., 88, of Bedford passed away on Wednesday, June 5, 2024. He was born in Bedford, VA on September 19, 1935. A son of the late Gilbert Clayton Luck, Sr. and Amanda Poteet Luck. In addition to his parents Gibo was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Riley and his nephew, Brian Riley.
Gibo served his country in the United States Army. He was a lifelong member of Bedford Baptist Church. Gibo was a graduate of Bedford High School, University of Richmond and The Stonier Graduate School of Banking at Rutgers University. He worked in banking for 30 years having served as Senior Vice President and many other roles before retiring. He served on many boards and was a member of many civic and local organizations. His persistence and business etiquette were very much appreciated by many local businesses throughout his career. In past years he enjoyed golfing, traveling, volunteer work and especially his daily trips to the farm. Farming was one of his favorites and most proud hobbies. His love for his loving wife and son brought him great joy. He was loved by so many and will be missed dearly in the days ahead.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 56 years, Claudine Burks Luck; son, Gilbert Clayton “Clay” Luck, III and his wife, Tara; sister-in-law, Louise E. Burks and her friend, James Staunton; niece, Siobhan Greene and her husband, Mark and nephew, Chris Riley and his wife, Tina. Also surviving are cousins and so many friends.

A graveside service and celebration of Gibo’s life will be conducted at 11:00 am on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at Ebenezer Church Cemetery, 1118 Ebenezer Road, Bedford VA with Pastor Michael Khol and Pastor Phil Bailey officiating. The family will receive friends for fellowship and a meal following the service at Bedford Baptist Church, 1516 Oakwood Street, Bedford, VA 24523.
