Gladys Irene Mccarty Arthur

Gladys Irene McCarty Arthur, 94, of Roanoke, formally of Moneta passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2014 at Pheasant Ridge Nursing Home. She was born in Roanoke on March 17, 1920, a daughter of the late Mack H. McCarty and Lelia Mae Altice McCarty.  In addition to her parents Gladys was preceded in death by her loving husband, A.W. “Doc” Willard Arthur; a daughter, Rose Ann Arthur Martin; two brothers, Lawrence McCarty and Warren McCarty; one sister, Aileen McCarty Meador.

 

Gladys was a member of Stanton Baptist church in Huddleston. She is survived by her grandson, Harold Benford Martin, Jr. and his wife, Kathy; one great-grandson, Christopher Michael Allen and his wife, Lydia; great-great-grandchildren, Ashley Nicole Campbell, Kaleb Fitzgerald Allen, Jordis Marley Allen, London Mae Allen and Hollis Marie Allen; one great-great-great-granddaughter, Alexis Jade Allen.

A celebration of Gladys’s life and graveside service will be conducted on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at 12 Noon at Staunton Baptist Church Cemetery with her grandson, Harold Benford “Ben” Martin, Jr. officiating.
