Glautin Collins Bagby Jr.,69, of Concord, VA, died Saturday, December 10, 2011 at home surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Grace W. Bagby.
Mr. Bagby was born Sunday, September 13, 1942 in Lynchburg, a son of Christine V. Bagby of Appomattox and the late Glautin C. Bagby, Sr. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy from 1960 \"" 1965 on the US Constellation. He was retired from the Lynchburg Police Department.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by his children: Dell (Sandy) Bagby of Appomattox, Tony (Tammy) Bagby of Concord, Scott (Sharon) Bagby of Rustburg, Tammy (Glenn) Webster of Madison Heights, Brenda Johnson of Appomattox and Michelle Bagby of Lynchburg; his grandchildren: Timmy, Andrew, Lauren, Christopher, Brittany, Autumn, Scottie and Chloe; a sister, Pat Stinnette of Hampton, a brother, Morris (Olivia) Bagby of Hampton; numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by special family and friends: Christine (Pete) McKinney of Concord, Louise Brennan of Spout Spring, Bob Lawhorn of Appomattox; and his devoted cat \"Muffin\".
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by Irene W. Fulton his mother-in-law and John Stinnette a brother-in-law.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg, and other times at the residence, 795 Doss Road, Concord, VA 24538. A celebration of Glautin\"™s life will be conducted at Eastbrook Baptist Church on Wednesday, December 14, 2011, at 3:00 PM with Pastor Curtis Walkup officiating.
