Glen William Overstreet, 78, of Thaxton, died Saturday, November 20, 2010 at his home. He was born February 28, 1932, a son of the late Amos Overstreet and Gola Chesterfield Dooley Overstreet. Glen was a member of Cool Springs Pentecostal Holiness Church. He worked at Rubatex for nine years and retired from Allen Lumber Company after 33 years. A devoted family man he enjoyed gardening, cooking and sitting on the front porch with Mae. Glen was preceded in death by a brother, Sam Overstreet and three sisters, Eula Carter, Ruby Ruff and Otelie Orange. He is survived by his wife Eleanor Mae Parker Overstreet, his children, Lee Overstreet of Thaxton; Crystal Brodesser and husband, Jamie of Montvale; Glenda Orange of Thaxton; Randy Overstreet and his wife, Carrie of Thaxton; Johnny Overstreet and his wife, Sandra of Salem; Toney Overstreet of Thaxton; Marty Ruff and his wife, Cinda of Wirtz; Virginia Goff of Big Island. Seventeen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Two brothers Ed Overstreet and his wife, Annie; James Overstreet and his wife, Mildred all of Thaxton; five sisters, Eleanor Dooley of Bedford; Eunice Barden of Richmond; Mary Pollock of Ohio; Irene Orange and husband, Rufus and Alice McKinney all of Bedford. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, November 22, 2010 at Cool Springs Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Larry G. Myers and Rev. Earl C. Ragland officiating. Burial will follow in the Peaks Community Cemetery, Kelso Mill Road, Bedford. The family will received friends at Tharp Funeral Home, Sunday, November 21, 2010 from 6-8 PM.
