Glenn A. Shean

December 7, 1933 — April 6, 2018

Glenn A. Shean, 84, died April 6, 2018, at his home in Forest, Va., after a 14 year battle with Alzheimer’s disease. He was born December 7, 1933, son of Arthur and Leona Stein Shean in Spearville, Ks. and was a graduate of Spearville High School and Ft. Hays State University.

He retired as a Financial District Manager after 32 years with NCR Corporation and served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956. He was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Lynchburg, Va., and the knights of Columbus in Spearville, Ks. He also served as a member of the Lions Club, Elks, Kiwanis and Mariah Hills Golf Club.

Glenn was married to his high school sweetheart for 63 years, Jovita Helfrich Shean. He was a gentle man with lots of patience, had a passion for golf and made a mean Bloody Mary. Glenn was a very successful business man during his career with NCR moving several times throughout the country for promotions and always had fun stories to share.

Other survivors include son Gregory Shean and wife, Nancy of Lebanon, Pa.; daughter, Cheryl Prince and husband, Mike of Jeffersonton, Va.; and son, Bradley Shean and wife, Missy of Hiwassee, Va.; one brother, Verl Shean of Spearville, Ks.; and sisters, Sharon Droste of Spearville, Ks., and Janell Ignaszak of Lyndonville, Vt.; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

The funeral mass will be on Monday, April 23, 2018, at 11 a.m. at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Lynchburg, Va., preceded by visitation at 10 a.m. Burial will be at a later date in St. John’s Cemetery in Spearville, Ks.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 1160 Pepsi Place, Suite 160, Charlottesville, Virginia 22901, St. Johns Cemetery Fund, 100 S. Main Street, Spearville, Kansas 67876, or St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 3015 Roundelay Road, Lynchburg, Virginia 24502, in care of Tharp Funeral Home or Burkhart Ziegler Funeral Home, Dodge City, Ks.

Each of you has touched our lives so deeply and we are forever grateful.
