Glenn Click Spitzer

Glenn Click Spitzer, 93, of Rustburg, VA, died Monday afternoon, January 6, 2014 at Lynchburg General Hospital surrounded by his family. A son of the late Earl Walker and Mary Click Spitzer, he was born on September 9, 1920 in Augusta County. He graduated from New Hope High School in 1938.

He was a graduate of Bliss Electrical School and Capital Radio Institute. He worked as a radio technician at a radio station in Fairmont, West Virginia before he enlisted in the U.S. Navy during World War II. During his service, he was a radio operator on a supply ship.

When he came home from Navy duty, he was a poultry farmer in Grottoes where he ran a family hatchery business with his Dad and Brother.

He worked at Doc Biller\"™s electronics shop in Harrisonburg prior to going to work for the State of Virginia.

He went to work with the Department of State Police as an Electronics Technician in 1964 until his retirement in 1985.

He was a great outdoorsman and loved to hunt with his brother-in-law, Kelly Chapman, who was his \"hunting buddy\".

On June 10, 1978, he married June Nash, who survives, and they spent 35 happy years together.

Besides his wife, he also leaves a daughter, Jeannie Isaacs and husband Steve, a son, Eric Spitzer and wife, Janice, daughter-in-law Kathy Spitzer, five grandchildren, Travis Isaacs, Rebecca Isaacs, Bryan Spitzer (Natalie), Lisa Spitzer (Jason), and E.J. Spitzer, and three great-grandchildren, Adrianna Novilla, Noah Novilla and Jolie Musick. He is also survived by a brother-in-law, sister-in-law, a number of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Glenn Spitzer, a sister, Earline Spitzer Chapman, and a brother, Carl W. Spitzer.

A celebration of Glenn's life will be conducted at 2 pm on Friday, January 10, 2014 at Liberty Baptist Church in Appomattox with Rev. Dr. Rusty N. Small and Rev. Robert Alderman officiating. Interment will follow in Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery, Concord, VA. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm on Thursday, January 9, 2014 at Tharp Funeral Home, 220 Breezewood Drive, Lynchburg and at other times at the home of his son Eric.
