Gloria Jean Fulcher, 81, of Madison Heights, died peacefully on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at Liberty Ridge Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of the late John R. Fulcher.
She was born on December 25, 1942, a daughter of the late Lemuel “Earl” and Pearl Mortimer. Gloria retired from the Central Virginia Training Center and was a long-time bus driver for Amherst County and Lynchburg City Public Schools. She was a member of Tyreeanna United Methodist Church.
In Gloria’s early years she loved to spend time camping and boating. She and her husband also spent many hours on the Blue Ridge Parkway along with their dogs. She had a special love for her beloved beagle, Spot.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one grandson, Samuel Scott Riley.
Mrs. Fulcher is survived by three children, Belynda Riley (Scott), Bobby Fulcher (Brenda), and Tim Fulcher (Cindy); six grandchildren, Christina, Craig, Megan, Taylor, Corey, and Caitlyn; ten great grandchildren, Riley, Connor, Noah, Lainey, Cooper, Avery, Ayden, Witten, Aubrey, and Tyler; and one brother, Wayne Mortimer (Mary Lou).
The family would like to thank the staff at Liberty Ridge for their kindness and care.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Madison Heights.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Humane Society of Amherst County (HSAC), P.O. Box 614 Amherst, VA 24521, in Gloria’s memory.
