Gloria Jean Roberts of Lynchburg, Va. passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2017 in Lynchburg, Va.
She was born August 27, 1942, Daughter of Jack O. Elder and Bertha M. Elder. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, William Edd Roberts. Jean was a member of Timberlake United Methodist Church for 47 years.
She is also survived by three children, Donna Drinkard and her husband Jimmy, Cheryl Walton of Lynchburg, and Terry Roberts of Lynchburg; three grandchildren, Nicole Walton, Matt Walton, and Connor Roberts; two step grandchildren, Jeremy Drinkard and Stephanie Hazelwood and her husband Robbie of Concord; three great-grandchildren, Jace Padgett, Bryce Hazelwood, and Braden Hazelwood; two sisters-in-law, Mary W. Elder and Elsie Elder; one brother-in-law Hugh Poindexter; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by two special friends Dianne Ferrell and Eleith Pugh.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son-in-law Jeff Walton; three brothers, Lewis M. Elder, Roy P. Elder, and Horace B. Elder; and three sisters, Meredith E. Marstin, Thelma E. Westfahl, and Amelia Poindexter.
The family is receiving friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday, March 5, 2017 at Tharp Funeral Home and at other times at 776 Whitestone Drive. A service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 6, 2017 at Timberlake United Methodist Church.
