Gloria W. Hobson

Gloria Jean Wright Hobson, 64, of Bedford, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital. She was born in Bedford on May 4, 1954. A daughter of the late Rawlince Wright and Katie Marie Jones Wright. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her daughter, Yolanda Michelle Miller; sister, Delores Wright and a niece, Stacey Wright.

Gloria was a loving and compassionate wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She loved spending time with her family and friends. She also loved her church Blue Ridge Baptist and her church family, gardening, cooking, reading and keeping children. She helped watch many children throughout the community and was very influential in their lives to this day. She was loved by so many and will be missed by all that knew her.

Gloria is survived by her loving husband, Gregory Evan Hobson, Sr.; three daughters, Shonna Kilpatrick, Christina Wright and Jelisa Hobson; one son, Gregory E. Hobson, Jr.; eleven grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren; one sister, Ernestine Langhorne; two brothers, Randy Wright and Robert Wright also numerous nieces, nephews and so many friends.

A memorial service and celebration of Gloria’s life will be conducted at 11:00 am on Tuesday, June 19th, 2018 at Tharp Funeral Chapel in Bedford with Pastor Jonathan Nance officiating. Per Gloria’s request there will be no formal visitation. The family will receive friends all other times
