Deacon Gordon Kenneth Cartwright, 82 began life February 10, 1937 in Woodland, PA. Relocating to North Tonawanda, NY, where he met the love of his life, Gloria Wisniewski, and spent the next 61 years loving her and their four children, Denise (Douglas) Lawrence, Marie (Joann) Russell, preceded in death by Daniel Joseph, and Kenneth Jerome.
Enjoyed life with his seven grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren. His driven passion for Christ lead him to be ordained permanent deacon of the Diocese of Buffalo, NY in 1980. His career at Buffalo Air Handling moved him to Lynchburg VA, where he served the Diocese of Richmond in prison ministry, Hospice, Cursillio, Tabor Retreat Center, and Holy Cross School. He is survived by a sister, Norma (Carl) Vogal, brother, Daniel (Joyce) Cartwright, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and countless godchildren. Preceded in death by five siblings.
His actions demonstrated his love for humanity. He loved the Lord, cheered on the Bills, adored his family, and enjoyed life.
The family will receive friends at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Lynchburg, Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at 5 p.m. A funeral mass will be at 6 p.m. with reception to follow, also at St. Thomas More.
