Grace Carolyn Seitz Cook

Grace Carolyn Seitz Cook left to meet her Lord on March 20, 2025, from Lynchburg General Hospital in Lynchburg VA. She was born on July 8,1931 to the late John Leslie and Mattie Stilwell Seitz of Hickory, NC.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Roy O. Cook in 2015. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Glenn, Earl, Johnny, and Eldon Seitz; and four sisters, Lucille Bowman, Betty Hollar, Wanda Collins, and Willie Rice.

She is survived by two sons, Steven Cook and wife Cindy of Lynchburg, VA and Gary Cook and wife Patty of Clayton, NC; grandchildren, Nathaniel and Salomeea Cook, Natalie and Will McCurdy, Ashley Cook, Kelsey Grace Cook, and three great-granddaughters, Meadow, Holland, and Sofia Grace.

Gracie was a faithful member of Tabernacle Baptist Church for 60 years. She was a ladies’ Sunday School teacher and choir member for many years. She loved bird watching, flower gardening, genealogy, traveling with Christian Tours, visiting light houses, and was an avid NC State Fan. She enjoyed spending time with her family making many trips to Forest, VA and Clayton, NC.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 28, 2025, at Tabernacle Baptist Church with Rev. Scott Hooks officiating. Mrs. Cook will lie-in-state starting at 11:30 a.m. at the church before the service. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
