Grace Stewart Mace, 93, of Lynchburg, Va., passed away Friday, May 13, 2016 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Charles Warren Mace.
Grace was born on December 25, 1922 in Marion, NC to the late Terrel Stewart and the late Lockie Buchanan. She was a long-time member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Grace graduated from Crossnore High School in 1940, and considered her time there as three of the best years of her young life. She was an employee of General Electric for 34 years. She lived her final two years of life in Roanoke, Va. with her son, Johnnie, and at Elm Park Estates Retirement Community. Because of her faith, her life reflected compassion, tolerance, and love of family.
Grace is survived by her sons Warren L. Mace (Teresa) of Lynchburg, Va., Charles Wayne Mace (Leslie) of Lexington, Va., and Johnnie R. Mace (Wanda) of Roanoke, Va.; ten grandchildren, Jacob, Joshua, Jesse, Ryan, Mindy, Jared, Dallin, Tyler, Jordan, and Alex; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers.
A funeral service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Lynchburg Chapel, on Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. with Bishop Michael A. Williams, Sr. presiding. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
