Grover R. Hedrick, 89, of Lynchburg, departed this life, Thursday, March 22, 2012 at his home surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Jannie Campbell Hedrick.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Barbara H. Burns, his son, Ronnie Hedrick, his grandson, Timmy Burns and several brothers.
Mr. Hedrick was born in Campbell County on August 1, 1922, a son of the late John M. and Emma Hedrick. He was an Army veteran of the 81st infantry, serving in World War II and retired from Delta Star.
In additions to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Linda Hedrick of Rustburg; his grandchildren: Gordon McCraw, Jr. and wife Mary, Tina Ford and husband Brandon, Melissa McCraw, Daniel White and Karen Pannell, all of Rustburg; Tony Lee and Brian Burns of Evington; a sister, Bettie Childress of Florida and a brother A.C. Hedrick of Lynchburg. He is also survived by 17 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren and friend Dawn Woody.
The family will receive friends, Saturday, March 24, 2012 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Tharp Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted, Monday, March 26, 2012 at Tharp Funeral Home Chapel, Lynchburg, at 10:00a.m. A military service will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park.
