Guy Dean Dawson

Guy Dean Dawson, 85, of Rustburg, VA, died Thursday, March 28, 2013. He was the husband of Thelma Elliott Dawson, for 56 years.

Born Friday, December 02, 1927 in Pittsylvania County, VA, Guy was a son of the late Albert Ross Dawson and the late Nettie Wicker Dawson.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son: Earl Dean Dawson and his wife, Bridgett, of Rustburg, a daughter: Deborah D. Padgett and her husband, Frank, of Charlotte County; three brothers, Edward Dawson, Lacy Dawson and Curtis Dawson; five sisters, Frances Crowder, Lorean Wade, Margaret Reese, Lois Tharpe and Betty Terry; six grandchildren, Amber Dawson, Jessica Dawson, Earl Dawson, Jr., Kimberly Padgett, Frank Padgett, IV and Philip Bryant and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Guy was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Bryant.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Monday, April 1, 2013 at Clearview Baptist Church. A Funeral Service will follow the visitation at 3:00 PM at Clearview Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Wayne Greene and Pastor Bob Winston officiating. Interment will follow in Altavista Memorial Park, with military honors provided by American Legion Post 16.
