Harold Edward Lynch, 82, of Blue Ridge, died Thursday, December 30, 2010. Born August 11, 1928 in Roanoke, VA, a son of the late Betty Pearl Ferguson Lynch and Solly Moorman Lynch. Harold was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. He was a founder of the Montvale Volunteer Fire Department where he was honored with Lifetime Membership. He also served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict and was a retired truck driver with over 43 years experience. Harold had a genuine smile for everyone, which accompanied his enormous sense of humor. Many will remember him for his gentle and patient character along with the pride he took in his appearance. In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by a son, Shannon Lynch and a brother Aubrey Lynch. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Frances Dooley Lynch; three children, Marvin Lynch and Lisa Franks both of Houston, TX and Cline Lynch of Blue Ridge; a brother, Curtis Lynch of Roanoke; and five grandchildren; and special friends, The Anderson Family. A celebration of Harold\"™s life will be conducted at 2 PM, Sunday, January 2, 2011 in the Tharp Funeral Chapel with Pastor Bill Mitchell and Rev. Larry Ross officiating.
