Harold Leon “Pastor Rocky” Roberts passed away from this world and entered into the arms of Jesus on December 31, 2015. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Susan McIntosh Roberts and his 7 daughters and their spouses, Deana & Tennyson Cason of Palau, Deborah & David O’Brien of Lynchburg, Virginia, Teresa & Thomas Sweat of Sarasota, Florida, Christine & Dwight O’Neal of Sugar Hill, Georgia, Diana & Steven Mouzon of Lynchburg, Virginia, Jessica & Joel Hodges of Evington, Virginia and Kathleen & Joshua Bowie of Sugar Hill, Georgia. He has also left a beautiful legacy being survived by 22 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Harold Leon Roberts was born May 24, 1937 in Norman Park, Georgia to Edith Christine and Lonzie Lee Roberts. Sadly, Harold’s father died the day he was born. Harold’s loving stepfather was Augustus Hackyenos of Chicago, Illinois. Harold met his bride off the coast of Massachusetts while stationed as a lighthouse keeper with the Coast Guard. During his service to his country, he acquired his nickname, “Rocky”. God called Rocky and Sue to full time mission work early in their marriage and they have lived their life, abandoning the comforts of this world to whole-heartedly serve the Lord in some of the most remote places of the world. For 57 years Rocky and Sue have served the Lord faithfully. With their blooming family in tow, they proclaimed the name of Jesus in Palau, Guam, Micronesia, Molokai, Romania, Serbia and Moldova. Most recently their mission has been to minister to international students at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia. God has been faithful all the days of Rocky’s life and He remains faithful today. Rocky’s legacy will live on in the untold number of people whose lives have been changed for the Kingdom because of his faithfulness.
