Harold Wilson Fitch, passed away on September 30, 2023, at the age of 95. He was the devoted husband of Margaret J. Fitch for an incredible 73 years.
Born on February 17, 1928, in Gladys, VA, Harold was a cherished son of Fred G. Fitch and Nellie H. Fitch. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church on Timberlake Road. Harold served his country with honor in the U.S. Army during World War II and retired from General Electric.
Having grown up in the countryside, Harold possessed an unmatched skill set – he could fix anything and had a special talent for gardening, that he shared with his family and friends.
Left to cherish Harold’s memory are his loving daughters: Janet Fitch-Johnson of Thaxton, Sandy Jewell (Billy) of Evington, and Mary Garner (Nelson) of Forest. He also leaves behind four adored grandchildren: Melissa Miles (Cameron), Shelley Jewell, Harold Johnson, and Gary Garner III. Harold is survived by his brother, Douglas Fitch (Virginia) and sister Anne Carwile (James).
In addition to reuniting with his wife and parents in eternal peace, Harold was preceded in death by his brothers Donald, Buddy, William Fitch, and Fred Fitch Jr., along with his sister Norma Jean Booth.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 9, 2023, at Evergreen Cemetery located at 6870 Old Evergreen Road in Evergreen, VA.
