Harry Lee Thompson “Buddy” of Washington, D.C. peacefully transitioned from labor to reward on Friday, December 2, 2022; at Medstar Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C.
Born Friday, February 10, 1961, in Albemarle County, Va. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Isaiah and Ellen Thompson, Aunt Irene Thompson, Uncle Frank Thompson and his two best friends Thomas Baker and Alvin Richardson.
He attended Nelson County Public schools. While living in Nelson County he attended Oak Hill Baptist Church. Mr. Thompson was a devoted supporter of the Oak Hill Baptist Church Concerned Members Organization. He was employed by St. James Mutual Homes in Washington D.C. where he was the Maintenance Operations supervisor.
Harry enjoyed watching all sports especially the 2017 Super Bowl Champions Philadelphia Eagles. In addition, to sports he loved doing home improvement projects and was known to his family, neighbors, and friends as the handyman.
He leaves to cherish his memories his mother Ms. Mary E. Thompson of Massies Mill, VA, one son Maurice S. Thompson of Kernersville, NC , one daughter Monica L. Thompson (Gavis) of Madison Heights, VA, three grandchildren Jeramiah, Shawn and Marleigh and one grand dog Mayson, one brother James T. Thompson (Brooke) of Massies Mill, VA, one sister Tammy Thompson Barnett(Homer) of Amherst, VA. : a host of other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at Oak Hill Baptist Church 382 Level Green Rd., Roseland, Va. at 12:00 p.m. His remains will lie in repose one hour prior to the service.
