Harry C. Sublett, Jr., 96, of Forest, Virginia, passed away on Friday, February 7, 2025. He was the loving husband of the late Billie June Carter Sublett.
Harry was born on November 3, 1928, in Lynchburg, Virginia to the late Harry Cecil Sublett, Sr. and Ethel Thacker Sublett. He attended school at Lynchburg College, then pursued his career in sales at Griffin Pipe.
He was a member of Quaker Memorial Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed playing tennis, golf, and bowling. Harry was a lifelong UVA fan and enjoyed attending the basketball games with his loving wife of 62 years. One of his greatest titles was “Pop”, given to him by his grandkids whom he loved spending time with. Some of the family’s fondest memories were spent together at Myrtle Beach during the annual beach trip.
Harry is survived by his children, Kelly Vanaman of Forest, VA and Tracy Begue of Myrtle Beach, SC; grandchildren, Lindsey Begue of Murrells Inlet, SC, Michael Vanaman (Dakota) of Rockingham, VA, Lauren Colbert (Jeremy) of Murrells Inlet, SC, Christopher Vanaman (Carolina) of Forest, VA; nieces and nephews, Frank Sublett (Meg) of Winchester, VA, Robert Sublett (Susan) of Culpeper, VA, Carol Bradley of Lynchburg, VA, Kim Brookhauser of Humble, TX, David Carter (Cathy) of PA, David Falwell (Samena) of Lynchburg, VA; sisters-in-law, Margaret Falwell, Mary Sublett and Janie Carter; and cousins, Jim Edgerton and Kitty Page.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Sherwood Sublett; nephew, Aubrey Falwell, Jr.; sister-in-law, Ineta Bradley; and brothers-in-law, Kimsey Bradley, Aubrey Falwell, Sr. and David Carter.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at 1:00 pm at Tharp Funeral Home. A visitation will be held one hour prior. Interment will follow the service at Fort Hill Memorial Park. A reception will be held after the burial at Jefferson Villas Clubhouse at 3:00 pm.
