Hattie Branham Hamilton, 90, of Monroe, passed away Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at Fairmont Crossing Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Born on April 13, 1926 in Amherst County, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Edith Branham.

In addition to her parents, Hattie was preceded in death by her son, Ronnie Branham; three sisters, Mary Frances Bryant, Annie Branham, and Katherine Branham; her brother, Rufus Branham, and her great-grandson, Caden Branham Angus.

Hattie is survived by one son, Roger Branham (Peggy) of Monroe; two daughters, Norma Steele (Barry) of Madison Heights, and Donna Gunter of Appomattox; one sister, Betty Hicks (Herbert); three brothers, Curtis Branham (Louise), George Branham (Essie), and Wilbert Branham (Dorothy), seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Hattie was a devoted mother, sister, grandmother, friend and a follower of Christ. She was a lifelong member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Mission and a member of the Monacan Indian Nation. She was a kind, compassionate woman of unwavering faith who enjoyed spending time with her family. Hattie loved cooking for her family and friends, canning and quilting. She was a retired employee of the Central Virginia Training School.

The family will receive friends on Friday, April 14, 2017 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Tharp Funeral Home, 118 Commonwealth Drive Madison Heights, Va. 24572 and at other times the residence of Norma Steele in Madison Heights. A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 11a.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Mission, 2009 Kenmore Rd, Amherst, Va. 24521.
