Helen Brooks Boteler

Helen Brooks Boteler, 70, transitioned to the next life on December 23, 2023. She was the daughter of John Lawson Brooks, Jr. and Margaret Newman Brooks of Gladys, VA.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents and her two sisters, Peggy Woodall of Spout Spring, VA and Nancy Milton of Lynchburg, VA. Helen is survived by her husband of 48 years, Lynn Boteler and their daughter, Stephanie (and her husband, Hampton Farmer) of Nathalie, VA and son, Jason Boteler of Gladys, VA and her brother-in-law, Jeff Milton of Lynchburg, VA. Helen is also survived by Freddie, her very favorite cat of all times.

Helen was very proud of being a registered nurse. She worked in public health and several nursing homes, one of which she was the director of nursing. She lived her entire life on the farm that she was raised on in Gladys, VA. She was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.

There will be a celebration of her life in the Spring at the farm that she lived on and loved. Friends and family will be notified when the celebration is planned.
