Helen Brice Gardner

Helen Brice Gardner was born November 2, 1934, in Lynchburg, Va. to the late John Brice and Stella Hancock Brice. Helen passed away Monday, August 29, 2016. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Ray Gardner, Jr., two sisters, and eight brothers.

Those left to cherish her memories include a loving, devoted daughter, Sarita Gail Gardner; two devoted grandchildren, Charles R. Gardner, III (Mia), and Shannon G. Canada (Tyrone); eight grandchildren, Justin M. Jackson (Mahogny), Shyasia D. Marshall, Zamire O. Andrews, Jerome L. Johnson, Charles R. Gardner, IV, Aleila L. Canada, Dallas E. Gardner, and Tyrone L. Canada, Jr. (TJ); a very devoted nephew and niece, Velton (Buddy) and Alice Gardner; sweet and devoted nieces, Sonia Washington Miller and Shirley Haynes; eight nephews, George Brice, Scott Brice, Dubois Brice, Perry Brice, Pernell Person, Kenneth Reaves, Charles Reaves, and Jesse Reaves; seven nieces, Phyllis Brice, Bonnie Brice, Dianne Brice, Patricia McCoy, Stella Fullwood, Helen Washington, and Sandra Wayne; a host of great-nephews, great-nieces, cousins, great-great-nieces, and great-great-nephews, and a very special friend of 69 years, Margaret Hayes of Lynchburg, Va.

A celebration of Helen’s life will be held at New Free Springs Baptist Church at 3 p.m. on Saturday, September 3, 2016. Friends will assemble at the church prior to the service.
