Helen Lorraine Myers Booth, 96, of Waynesboro, Virginia, passed away peacefully and serenely at Augusta Health Hospital on Thursday, October 29, 2015, following a brief illness. She formerly made her home in both Bedford and Williamsburg, Virginia.
She was born April 11, 1919, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and was the daughter of the late David S. Myers and Ethel N. Poindexter Myers of Wytheville, Virginia. Her husband was the late Ernest E. Booth of Bedford. Helen worked for the Bedford City-County Museum for many years, and was very involved in the Bedford community during her time there.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Warren David Myers of Wytheville, and Robert Myers of Roanoke; one sister, Dorothy Myers Ryan of Wytheville; and three special sisters-in-law, Heloise B. Fisher, Katherine B. Holdren, and Hilda M. Booth, all of Bedford.
She is survived by members of her beloved family, Lynda Booth King (Donald) of Elberton, Georgia, Justin O. Booth of Waynesboro, and Wendy King Connor (Pete) of Port Orange, Florida; as well as four grandchildren that were the joy of her life, Madeleine and Bryan Booth of Waynesboro, and Emily and Elizabeth Connor of Port Orange. Additionally, she is survived by two sisters, Margaret Myers Siegel and June Myers Short; one brother, Charles Myers, all of Wytheville; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Also surviving is a special daughter-in-law, Tracey Campaigne of Waynesboro.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Augusta Health, Dr. Scott Young and Brett Wills of MOMS in Motion, all in Waynesboro, for all their care and support they gave Helen over the past years. They would also like to thank Tharp Funeral Home and Crematory and Skip Tharp in Bedford for all of their kindness and consideration in such a difficult time.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Sunday, November 1, 2015, at Tharp Funeral Home in Bedford. A celebration of Helen’s life will be held in the Tharp Funeral Chapel in Bedford on Monday, November 2, 2015, at 1 p.m. with Pastor Marc Reynolds officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
