Helen Mccarn Wertz

Mrs. Helen McCarn Wertz, 76, of 208 Crestview Drive, Thaxton, went to be with the Lord on July 9, 2012 at Guggenheimer Health and Rehabilitation. She had been in declining health for two years. She was born on September 18, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Dave McCarn and Mae Sprinkles McCarn in Gastonia, NC.

Mrs. Wertz was employed at Community Hospital until her retirement and was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church in Thaxton.

She is survived by her husband, Ronnie Wertz, of the residence; daughter Ann Scott and her husband Johnnie, of Danville; sons: Ross O. Brackett III and wife Robyn, of Ringgold, and Jerry Brackett and wife Pam, of Danville; stepdaughter, Angela Pac of Roanoke; stepson, Ronnie Wertz and fiancée Susan, of Thaxton. She is also survived by five grandchildren, three step grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and two step great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held 2:00 PM, Friday, July 13, 2012 at Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Thaxton. Arrangements by Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Bedford, 540-586-3443.
