Helen Proffitt Robbins, 95, of Amherst, went to be with the Lord January 19, 2017. She was the loving wife of the late Lawrence Henry Robbins.
Born July 22, 1921, in Lynchburg, she was the daughter of the late Richard Earl and Lillian Beatrice Proffitt.
Helen had been retired for many years from Central Virginia Training Center. She was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church and had past volunteered with Meals on Wheels. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and will be missed by her family.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by twelve brothers and sisters.
Helen is survived by four sons, Rodney Robbins and wife Rhonda, Lawrence Robbins and wife Cathy, Danny Robbins and wife Peggy, and Joel Robbins, all of Amherst; two daughters, Sheila Campbell of Evington, and Karen Moreland and husband
Mark of Lynchburg; eleven grandchildren and twenty one great-grandchildren; one brother, Carrington Proffitt; and one sister, Evelyn Fitzgerald of Madison Heights.
The family would like to thank Lynchburg Hospice for their wonderful care during the last stage of her illness.
A graveside service will be held at Meade Cemetery, 106 Old Wright Shop Rd., Madison Heights at 1 p.m. Monday January 22, 2017, with Pastor Dwayne Martin officiating. The family will receive friends from 3 until 4:30 p.m. Sunday, January 22, 2017, at Tharp Funeral Home, Madison Heights.
In her love for the Lord, the family suggests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Ebenezer Baptist Church, 882 Ebenezer Rd., Amherst, VA 24521.
