Helen Reynolds Owen

March 23, 1930 — November 26, 2021

Helen Reynolds Owen, 91, passed away on Friday, November 26, 2021. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 56 years, Marvin P. Owen. She was born March 23, 1930 to the late Hubert and Louise T. Gallaher. Helen was also predeceased by a brother, H. Louis Gallaher.

In addition to her husband, she is also survived by her daughter, Laura Scott (Brian) of Lynchburg, VA; son, Kenneth Reynolds of Roanoke, VA; granddaughter, Kristy Scott (Aaron Bowles) of Henrico, VA; sister, Frances Lewis of Lynchburg; sister-in-law, Linda Tuck of Lynchburg.

Helen was born and raised in Bedford County, VA and was a graduate of Boonsboro High School. She spent most of her life as a homemaker and taking care of any family members who needed her support and help. She worked at Lynchburg Presort in later years. Helen was a member of Old Forest Road United Methodist Church.

She was always a very fun-loving person and a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. She was well known for her excellent cooking skills and welcome feeling when visiting her home. She entertained both family and friends every Thanksgiving, Christmas, and any important occasion at her home! Helen was an absolute animal lover who always had pets and adored all of God’s creatures.

She found great joy in her flowers and plants and always had a beautiful yard with an abundant supply of both.

The family wishes with much gratitude to thank the staff at Leesville Runk and Pratt and the staff of Seven Hills Hospice.

Even though Mom was in declining health the last several years, she was always positive, happy and grateful for the many blessings she enjoyed.

Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Lynchburg Humane Society.

A graveside service will be held Friday, December 3, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Fort Hill Memorial Park. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
