Helene Ingrid Sanders

Helene Berg Sanders, January 18, 1954 \"" July 30, 2012, of Forest, Virginia died after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer. She was the oldest of five children born to the late Finn and Bjorg Berg of Norway. Helene was born in Brooklyn, NY and grew up on Long Island, living there until moving to Virginia in 2002.

 

Helene received a Nursing Degree in New York in 1995. She worked in San Simeon on the Sound Nursing Home in Greenport NY from 1995-2002. After moving to Virginia, Helene became the Activity Advisor at Runk & Pratt in Bedford. Helene attended Thomas Road Baptist Church in Lynchburg where she belonged to the Mountain Blend Women\"™s Bible Study group. She was also an active member of the Lynchburg Newcomers Club.

 

She is survived by her husband, Nicholas Sanders, a son, David Kibler, a daughter, Karin and husband, her grandchildren ; Kevin, Christopher and Melanie of Forest, Virginia; siblings; Lisa Anderson and her husband David; Jeff Berg and his wife Lisa, Stanley Berg, Rodney Berg, her nieces ; Casey Berg, Kristin Anderson, Shannon Berg, and her nephews; Jonathan Anderson and Ian Berg.

 

Helene touched the lives of many people with her beautiful smile, inspiring faith and love for others. Family and Friends are invited to attend a Visitation on Friday, August 3, 2012 at 11:00 AM with a Memorial Service at 12:00 noon at Tharp Funeral Home, 220 Breezewood Drive, Lynchburg, Va. A Graveside service will be conducted at Fort Hill Memorial Park immediately following the service.
