Henry “Hank” Richard Hegner, 79, of Moneta, passed away on Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at home. He was the loving husband of Erna.
Born in Chicago, IL. he was the son of the late Henry and Estella Hegner and brother to the late Judy Vetrovec. Hank was a retired electrical engineer with a Master’s Degree which through his career worked for Magyar Associates, ManTech International Corporation, GATX and Illinois Institute of Technology. Hank was a very active and dedicated member of the Instrumentation Society of America. In 1994, Hank reached the highest membership grade of ISA Fellow for his outstanding achievements in the engineering field as recognized by his ISA peers. Hank also achieved numerous awards within the society and was elected a past Director of the Test Measurement Division and most recently the Historian of the Water & Wasterwater Industries Division. He especially enjoyed dedicating his time as an instructor for courses helping to develop young engineers.
Hank enjoyed his life at the Lake, especially taking walks with Cocoa. He was very proud of his family and enjoyed precious visits with his grandchildren. Family gatherings were particularly enjoyable to Hank, especially the time afforded by Shannon and Jonathan to talk one-on-one with their Grandpa Hank.
Hank is preceded in death by his two sons David and Carl.
In addition to his wife, Hank is survived by his son Henry and wife Donna; daughter: Jessica Mendez; two daughters-in-laws: Judy and Tammy; fourteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial service will be private.
