Henry Richard Head, Jr. 68, of Lynchburg died Friday May 6, 2016. He was the devoted husband of the late Constance Katherine Head, whom was waiting for him at the eastern gate.
Henry was born June 23, 1947 in Newport News, a son of the late Henry Richard Head, Sr. and Marion Finerghty Head. Henry honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He was retired from the U.S. Postal Service and a member of the Lynchburg Church of God.
He is survived by his daughters: Rachel C. Nickerson and husband John of Lynchburg, Karen Shirley Boyd of Alexandria, Robin Patterson and her husband Hayward of Alexandria, Kelly Israel and her husband Allen of Flat Rock, NC, Kathy Keys and her husband Paul of Boonsboro, and Debbie Becker and her husband Steve of Mocksville, NC, nine grandchildren, and fourteen great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by one grandson SSG Daniel Becker and a son Danny Galen Penick.
A Celebration of Henry’s Life will be held at 4:00 p.m. Monday May 9, 2016 in the chapel of Tharp Funeral Home Lynchburg with Pastor Mike Kirby officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home until 7:00 p.m. Military honors will be performed by American Legion Post#16. Interment will be held privately at Fort Hill Memorial Park at a later date.
