Herbert Ralph Patterson

Herbert Ralph Patterson, 93, of Concord, passed away Thursday, August 3, 2023. He was the loving husband of Bernice Davis Patterson for over 70 years.
Herbert was born April 21, 1930, in Lynchburg, a son of the late Cornelius “Neal” Patterson and Fannie Miller Patterson. Herbert honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, was a professional truck driver by trade, and was a member of Peaceful Grove Baptist Church in Concord.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter Patricia Carr and her husband Aronto of Lynchburg, three grandchildren; Anthony Alexander, Arita Carr, and Athena Glover, seven great-grandchildren, and two sisters; Gladys Edwards and Hermenia Parker.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter Edith Alexander, six sisters, and three brothers.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 8, 2023, at Tharp Funeral Home Lynchburg.
A Celebration of Herbert’s Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 8, 2023, in the chapel of Tharp Funeral Home Lynchburg with the Rev. Sidney Dove and Rev. William Veneable officiating. Interment will follow at Peaceful Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Concord with military honors performed by American Legion Post #16 Honor Guard.
