Homer David Branch

Homer David Branch, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2025, at the age of 75. Born on April 17, 1950, he led a life marked by hard work, and a profound love for the outdoors. He was married to his late wife, Ellen Ross Branch for 52 years.

David dedicated many years to a career in construction before retiring, leaving behind a legacy of determination and craftsmanship that inspired those around him. An avid outdoorsman, he cherished his time spent hunting, fishing, and tending to both his garden and the beauty of nature. His passion for the great outdoors was mirrored in the experiences he shared with his family, creating lasting memories that will be cherished by all who knew him.

He is survived by his daughter, Roxane St.John (Chris) of Concord, VA; and son, Paul Branch of Big Island, VA, both of whom loved him dearly. His grandchildren, Jenna St.John, Jacob St.John (Whitney), Jeremy St.John (Amy), River Branch, and Austin Branch, were a source of great pride and joy for Homer, as well as his great-grandchildren, Ian St.John, Molly St.John, and Gavin St.John. His memory will also be honored by his sisters, Emma Jean Markham, Sherry Byers (Gary), and Rosalita Rice.

David is preceded in death by his father, Wilbur Homer Branch, and mother, Katherine Louise Branch, alongside his brothers, Roger Branch and Frank Branch, and his sister, Velma Simpson.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Big Island Fire Department, Big Island Rescue Squad, or Isaiah 117 House.

Friends and family are invited to come together to celebrate his life on July 9, 2025, for a graveside service at 11 AM at Big Island Baptist Church Cemetery located at 10747 Lee Jackson Hwy, Big Island, VA 24526.

David Branch will be profoundly missed by many, but his spirit and love for the outdoors will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
