Homer Witt Wooldridge, Jr., 78, of Bedford, went to his heavenly home Monday, May 3, 2010. Born June 1, 1931 in Lynchburg, VA a son of the late Homer Witt Wooldridge, Sr. and Leoma Lee Lucas Beatty and her husband, Bernard. He was a member of Bedford Christian Church and a retired teacher and coach. Homer loved children and had a passion for teaching as well as coaching sports to children of all ages. If he wasn\"™t coaching you would often find him close by as a spectator. Many people knew him as \"Coach\", \"Teacher\" and \"Friend\".
Homer is survived by his wife of 47 years, Rushie Mae Wooldridge; five daughters, Teresa Lee Burton and her late husband, Michael Todd Burton of Bedford, Tamara Lynn Fielder and husband, Glenn Dwayne Fielder, Melinda Kay Phillips and husband, Frank James Phillips all of Bedford, Michelle Renee Andrews of Lynchburg, Amy Sue Overstreet of Bedford; a son, William \"Billy\" Harper of Bedford along with numerous other foster children; grandchildren, Justin Michael Burton and his girlfriend, Amanda Michelle Hogan, Travis James Phillips, Isaac Graham Cyrus and Raigan Danielle Overstreet all of Bedford; a stepsister, Carol and Don Wedl and their children of Pleasant Hill, CA; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A celebration of Homer\"™s life will be conducted at 11 AM, Thursday, May 6, 2010 at Bedford Christian Church with Pastor William Moore, Rev. James E. Compton and Rev. Rick Dellinger officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM, Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Bedford, 586-3443.
