Hope Lange Woods Hughes, age 56 passed away peacefully on Saturday April 18, 2020, at Lynchburg General Hospital in Lynchburg, VA.
She was born January 31st, 1964 in Lynchburg to James and Pat Woods. She was a 1982 graduate of Amherst County High School. A warm and inviting personality, Hope worked in customer service throughout Amherst County, connecting with everyone she encountered. With a lifelong commitment to education and hoping to provide for her family, she returned to school later in life and earned an associate’s degree in medical billing and coding in 2014. Deeply invested in her community, Hope provided her skills and time to generously assist with management of the Solid Rock Church food bank in Lynchburg, VA for the last 9 years.
Although friends from many years before, she built a friendship and love with Anthony Hughes and they were married on March 24, 2012. Hope has been a steadfast support to her children and her grandson, Mason as well as a beloved daughter, sister, cousin and friend to countless others. She’ll always be remembered for her sweet personality and kind smile, not to mention her lifelong love of NASCAR, Kevin Harvick, and George Strait’s music.
Hope is honored and remembered by her husband, Anthony, her children, William, Lauren and Machia (fiancé), her grandson, Mason, soon to be granddaughter, Roselynn, two brothers, Chris and Michael, a sister, Vicky and her mother Pat as well as many other close relatives and friends.
Family, friends, and others who lives Hope touched are invited to the Tharp Funeral Home, 118 Commonwealth Drive, Madison Heights, VA on Tuesday, April 21st, 2020 from 9AM-5PM to reminisce, grieve and support each other in a celebration of Hope’s life. Funeral services will be held at Tharp Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 22nd, 2020 at 1PM followed by a brief gravesite ceremony.
