Howard Lee Nance

Howard Lee Nance, 81, of Forest, died Monday, March 08, 2010.  He was the husband of Shirley Bryant Nance for 56 years.

Mr. Nance was born Tuesday, January 29, 1929 in Moneta, VA, a son of the late Frank Lee Nance and Clarice McManaway Nance.  He proudly served our country in the U.S. Army.  He was retired from Babcock & Wilcox where he was a Quality Control Inspector.  He was a member of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, American Legion Post #16, and Forest Masonic Lodge #245 A.F. & A.M.

In addition to his spouse, he is survived by his children, Susan K. Nance, of Oviedo, FL, Gail Hicks and husband, Carl, of Dale City, VA, Gary Nance, of Rustburg, VA, Barbara N. Brown and husband, Thomas, of Lynchburg, VA, seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren, his siblings, Betty Nance, of Lynchburg, VA, Walter Nance and wife, Lee, of Lynchburg, VA, Carol Bush and husband, Billy, of Forest, VA, and Bob Nance, of Bedford, VA and dear friend, Debby Fannin of Oviedo, Fl.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by, his brother, Bill Nance and his sister, Marie Jefferson.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, March 09, 2010 at Tharp Funeral Home.  A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at Virginia Memorial Park.  Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post #16 and Masonic Rites will be performed by Forest Masonic Lodge #245 A.F. & A.M.
