Howard Owen Smith

Howard Owen Smith, 91, went to be with his Lord January 12, 2012.  He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Kathleen McNeely Smith.

 Mr. Smith was born July 6, 1920 in Lynchburg, VA, the son of the late Radford Spencer Smith and the late Virginia Dare Mills Smith. Howard proudly served in the U. S. Army during WWII. During his military service, he circled the globe and received three battle stars. He retired as a Supervisor from Limitorque. Howard loved his Lord, loved his family, and loved his country. He was a lifetime member of Rivermont Evangelical Presbyterian Church and served as deacon and elder.

 Howard\"™s greatest joy was his family whom he loved very much.

 He was a humble and wise man whose family and others sought his advice and trusted his wisdom.   He touched the lives of everyone around him. He will be missed.

 In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Constance Smith Kramer \"Connie\" and her husband Billy of Forest, Daniel Owen Smith \"Pete\" and his wife, Phyllis of Lynchburg, Rodney Keith Smith and his wife, Maxine of Forest and Bruce Howard Smith and his wife, Linda of Lynchburg.   He is also survived by nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

 A graveside service will be held 2:30 pm at Monday, January 16, 2012 at Fort Hill Memorial Park with Rev. Chris Deneen officiating.
