Our beloved Father, Hugh Jackson McMillan, 89, of Roanoke, departed this life on Tuesday, February 19, 2019. He was the loving husband of Betty McMillan.
Born February 14, 1930, he was a son of the late Ray E McMillan and Mattie Harvey McMillan. Hugh retired from Rubatex/Groendyk and was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church.
Hugh was preceded in death by his wife, as well as a brother, Wallace McMillan. He is survived by his daughter, Dreama McMillan, Son, Hugh J., Jr. (Jackie), daughter-in-law Frances Wheeler, two grandchildren, Sara Chesser, Trey McMillan, great-granddaughter McKenna Chesser, brother Wilson McMillan and wife Mary, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service and celebration of Hugh’s life will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Friday, February 22, 2019 at Epworth United Methodist Church in Thaxton with Rev. Danny Holdren and Rev. June Carpenter officiating. Burial will follow the service at Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday February 22, 2019 from 12:00 noon until 1:00 pm at the church prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Epworth United Methodist Church in his honor.
