Hunter Thomas Petty, Jr., 48, of Salem, VA, passed away suddenly Saturday, January 21, 2017. Known by his friends and family as Tom, he was a well-respected highway and bridge estimator and entrepreneur of nearly 30 years. Tom filled his days with home improvement projects, boat trips on the lake, afternoons with his dog, quality time with his kids, and his nutty antics. He was a long time member of First United Methodist Church of Salem and will be missed by his family there.
Tom is preceded in death by his father Hunter Thomas Petty, Sr. and his mother Gail L. Clinedinst Petty. He is survived by his beloved children Taylor Mae Petty and Hunter Thomas Petty, III, his sister Wendy Petty Luckado, his brother-in-law Roger, his nephews Wayne and Jesse Luckado, his dear grandmother Mary Brookman Petty Winston, and other cherished relatives.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, 1/24, at First United Methodist Church (FUMC) in Salem, VA 6-8pm. A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, 1/25, at noon also at FUMC. Visitation and a Memorial Service will also be held at Wesley Chapel, 1807 Rolling Road South, Scottsville, VA on Saturday, 1/28, at 11am and noon, respectively.
