Ida Campbell Austin, of Amherst, VA, passed away on March 25, 2024. She was born on May 9, 1950, a daughter of the late Bernard Dalton Campbell and Madeline Whitehead.
Ida was employed by the Archer Creek Foundry for many years as a Core Machine Operator. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, traveling to the mountains, and watching the waves of the ocean sway back and forth.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Terry Wayne Campbell; and one brother Dalton Campbell.
Ida is survived by her husband of over 30 years, Steve W.H. Austin; one son, Barry Wills (Deborah); seven grandchildren, Taylor Brooks, Barry S. Wills, Erica Thacker, Tabitha Shores, Christopher Willoughby, Kierstin Clark, and Tristen L. Campbell; nine great grandchildren, Colt Samuel Wills, Elaina Thacker, Abbey Shores, Logan Shores, Angela Willoughby, Ashley Willoughby, Maya Willoughby, Hailey Campbell, and Logan Campbell; two brothers, Raymond A. Campbell Sr. and Robert T. Campbell Sr.; and one sister, Lucy Carter
A memorial visitation will take place on Friday, April 5, 2024, at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Madison Heights from 5 – 9 p.m.
