Inez Hatter Karnes, 84, of Bedford, died Saturday, January 26, 2013, at Carriage Hill Retirement Community. A daughter of the late Andrew Harrison Hatter and Mary Frances Taylor Hatter, she was born April 12, 1928 in Bedford County, VA. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 56 years, Patrick Henry Karnes; two sisters, Irene Orange and Hazel Parker; and three brothers, Earl, Edward, and Jackie Hatter.
Inez was a dedicated member of Cool Spring Presbyterian Church for over 25 years.
She is survived by two sons, William \"Willie\" Henry Karnes and wife, Vickie of Lynchburg, John Wayne Karnes and wife, Della of Bedford; a daughter, Mary Jane McGhee, and husband Lewis of Bedford; six grandchildren; a sister, Barbara\" Bobbie\" Waldron and husband, Jimmy Lee of Bedford; and a sister-in-law, Martha J. Hatter of Bedford.
The family will receive friends on Monday, from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the Tharp Funeral Home in Bedford. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at the Tharp Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Geoff Hubbard officiating. Interment will follow in Peaks View Christian Church Cemetery.
