Ira Littleton North, Jr.

Ira  \"Tuffy\" Littleton North Jr.,  went home to be with his Lord January 6, 2010.  Born at Martha Jefferson Hospital, Charlottesville and a resident of Lynchburg, he is survived by his wife, Mary Mason Green North of 39 years, his beloved mother, Lelia Mae Hildebrand North, his older son, Ira \"Tig\" L. North, III and wife, Kristin Hundley North, and grandchildren Daniel Layne North and Rebekah Grace North of Stafford.  Additionally, Mr. North is survived by his younger son and wife, David Mason and Kara A. Graham North of Alexandria.  He is also survived by three aunts, Kitty Ree Hildebrand, Martha H. Weaver, Louise North, and two uncles, A. A. \"Pete\" Hildebrand, Jr., Louis \"Bird\" Hildebrand and wife Roberta \"Bob\" Hildebrand all of Charlottesville.  As the only son of Lelia and Ira\"Scoop\" North (deceased), he enjoyed the friendship of many first, second, and third Hildebrand and North cousins in the Charlottesville area.

In addition to his immediate and extended family, Mr. North is survived by several church families of Rivermont Avenue Baptist Church and Thomas Road Baptist Church of Lynchburg as well as Highland Crest Baptist Church and Graceway Fellowship Church of Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Professionally, Mr. North\"™s career of 30 years as an industrial pump/packing salesman, allowed him to meet and make many friends throughout the USA as well as around the world.  He continued to enjoy rich friendships via the internet.

As a member of TRBC\"™s Faith Bible Class for many years, he truly enjoyed and delighted in the special friendships of those dear brothers and sister-in-the Lord.  All who met Ira were considered a life time friend, and those of his immediate, extended, and church families have enjoyed his wonderfully warm, loving, witty, humorous, and cheerful personality.

He was blessed to be loved and involved not only with Faith Bible class of TRBC, but also with the fellowship of the Big Island Hunt and Bear Club in Big Island.  His interests included a rich knowledge of military history as well as many hobbies.

The immediate North family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the many friends who have encouraged and sustained them with prayers, phone calls, emails, cards, and personal visits.  The North family is grateful for the supportive and loving doctors, nurses, and staff of the Veteran Hospitals of Salem, Richmond, and Durham, N. C.  Our love and gratitude go to the kindnesses and compassion of the several church families of the Cary, Durham and Fuquay-Varina areas:  St. Marks AME Mt. Zion Church, Bethany United Methodist Church, Gateway Chapel, Colonial Baptist Church, Baptist Grove Church, Bethel Presbyterian Church.

Our gratitude goes to those dear friends of Rock Hill High School (Class of \"™63) who have encouraged and supported through multiple visits, phone calls and cards.

We are most appreciative of the angels of Hospice of the Hill (Centra Health) for the comfort and family support over the past 30 days.  Special thanks to Mrs. Connie Bailey, Mrs. Vicki Bailey, and Mrs. Janet Hundley for the mercy and compassion given to Mr. North and family.
