Irene Bowling Campbell

December 10, 1930 — May 23, 2018

Mrs. Irene Bowling Campbell was called from labor to reward after a long illness on May 23, 2018. She was born in Lynchburg, VA on December 10, 1930.

She was a long time member of First Baptist Church on Coolwell Road in Amherst, VA. Irene was preceded in death by her parents Mary Beverly and Deacon John Bowling as well as her brothers Elvin and Alfred Bowling.

She was married to Charles “Chuck” Campbell, who passed away in January 2004, after 25 years of marriage. Irene leaves to cherish her memory: two devoted daughters Lolita Irene Mason Warwick (Warren) and Carolyn Mason, a loving sister Beatrice Jordan of Amherst, VA, six grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren, two nephews, seven nieces and a host of other relatives and friends.

Irene retired after serving many years as a dining hall supervisor at Lynchburg College and was also involved in clubs and organizations including Starlight Club and the Pride of Lynchburg Temple 81.

We would like to thank Centra Hospice, especially Nadja Aldrich for their excellent care and dedication during this difficult time

Services will be held at Tharp Funeral Home on Breezewood Drive Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with interment immediately following at Fairmont Baptist Church in Stapleton, VA.

The family will receive visitors prior to the service.  In the days preceding the service, the family will also receive visitors at the home of Derrick Mason, son of Carolyn Mason, at 195 Seminole Drive, Madison Heights, VA.

Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Madison Heights, is assisting the family.
