Irene Dodd Clark

December 26, 1927 — April 1, 2018

Irene Dodd Clark, 90, formerly of Amherst County, entered Heaven on Easter Sunday, April 1, 2018 at Runk and Pratt, Forest, VA. Her husband, Wallace M. Clark preceded her in death.

Irene was born on December 26, 1927, in Charlotte County, Virginia; she was a daughter of Claude S. Dodd and Fannie Conner Dodd.

Irene will always be remembered for her giving heart which she shared with the ones she loved in many ways. She was an amazing cook and baker, talented seamstress, and could out shop anyone. Irene shared these talents with everyone she knew, and she set the example for grace, poise, and beauty on a daily basis. She was the epitome of a southern lady.

In addition to her husband, Irene was also preceded in death by her sisters Annie D. Morris and Mattie D. Bennett; and her brothers, Luther D. Dodd, Hubbard L. Dodd and J. Walker Dodd.

She was the loving mother of Linda W. Moorefield; her son, Kenneth A. Ware and his wife Kathy; and the most giving grandmother to Lelia Saunders (Nathan), Chelsie Wilson (Tremaine), Jay Moorefield, and Clint Moorefield (Kristin) and great-grandmother to Cason Moorefield, Landry Saunders, Treyden Wilson and Reed Moorefield; she is also survived by three sisters, Sadie D. Nelson, Jean D. Bigger and Hilda D. Smith; and three brothers, F. Parker Dodd, W. Hampton Dodd and Leighton B. Dodd.

A celebration of life for Irene will be held at 1:30 p.m., on Thursday, April 5, 2018, at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg with Rev. Glynn Coleman officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12 noon until 1:30 p.m. Interment will follow the service at Fort Hill Memorial Park.

The family would like to show our gratitude for the countless hours of care Irene received at Runk and Pratt, Forest. Their selfless love and constant support of our mother and grandmother as well as our entire family will never go unnoticed.
