Irene Karnes Holdren

Irene Karnes Holdren, 93, of Bedford, passed away on Thursday, August 17, 2017 at Bedford County Nursing Home. She was born in Bedford Co. Virginia on September 19, 1923. A daughter of the late James Miller Karnes and Merton James Karnes. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Nelson Emmett Holdren; siblings, Elwood, Carl, Opal and Dot.

Irene was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church in Thaxton. She loved spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by her two children, Marie Wagner and husband, Wally and Danny Holdren and wife, Betty ; three grandchildren, Stuart Byrd and wife, Susan, Donny Holdren and wife, Yelear and Amy Howell and husband, Jeremy; eight great-grandchildren, Chelsea, Jessica, Tyler, Nolan, Madison, Wyatt, Hannah and Ryland; five siblings, Ray Karnes and wife, Mae, Winnie Ashwell, Anne Duncan, Hazel Gray and Grace Johnson. Also numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

A Graveside service will be conducted at 1:00pm on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at Greenwood Cemetery in Bedford.
