Irene Marie Horsley

Irene Marie Horsley, 49, of Lynchburg, Virginia departed this life on May 19, 2019 at her residence. She was born at Lynchburg General Hospital to James Edward Rucker and Lucille Maxine Horsley.
She is preceded in death by her daughter, Lakita Marie Horsley and her mother, Lucille Maxine Horsley. Irene “The I” Horsley was loved by many and known for being full of life and being good to everyone she encountered.
She leaves to cherish her memories four brothers: Freddie Horsley, Alfred Horsley, James Rucker, and Jesse Rucker and five sisters: Brenda Horsley, Carolyn Braxton, Katina St. John, Lillian Thurman, and Corretta Thurman. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends; also devoted friends Jethro “Cotton” Callaham, Cherylene Cheatwood, and Darlene Calloway.
A celebration of Irene’s life will be Saturday, May 25, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. at The New Dearington Baptist Church. The Rev. Artemus Dixon will be officiating. Interment will be in the Baptist Cemetery located on Wiggington Rd. Irene will lie in repose one hour prior to the service. The cortege will assemble at the church.
