Irene Elizabeth Overstreet

Irene Elizabeth Overstreet, 92, of Thaxton, passed away on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at her residence. She was born on May 15, 1931, in Thaxton. Irene was preceded in death by her mom, Mattie Jackson Overstreet; husband, Alfred Thomas Overstreet; son, Michael Wayne Overstreet; grandparents, Rosa and Julian Overstreet and brother, Hubert Overstreet.

Irene had a passion for the outdoors, especially gardening. She loved to grow tomatoes, corn and many other vegetables. Irene loved children and couldn’t pass by one without commenting how cute they were. She will be missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her children, Anita Happholdt and Wanda Overstreet; grandchildren, Brandi, Dylan, Kellie Marie Payne (Casey) and Daniel Happholdt (Isabel); great-grandchildren, Gabriella, Julian, Benjamin and sister, Doris Ann Overstreet.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at Virginia Memorial Park.
