Irene Rucker Russell, 82, of Lynchburg, died Friday August 10, 2018. She was predeceased by her husband of over 50 years, Donald M. Russell; her brother, Howard Rucker and her sisters, Lois Bagby, Bernice Pearson, and Lena Rucker.
Irene was born on April 9, 1936 she was a daughter of the late Houston M. and Eva Pillow Rucker. Irene worked at GE/Ericsson for 41 years.
She is survived by her children David Russell (Teresa), Cindy Stevens (Zane), and Karen Irby ( Clay); grandchildren, Dustin (Kara), Tiffany (J.T.), Morgan, Heath, Heather (J.P.), Christina and Brandon; great-grandchildren, Kamdyn, Alaina, Tamsyn, Ryan, Conner, Skyler, Cailyn, Jack, Lilly, Greyson, Carter, Noah, Colton and Kynadi; and sister, Nellie Schmincke.
A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday August 13, 2018 at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg and at other times at the residence of David & Teresa Russell, 122 Chesterfield Road, Lynchburg, VA 24502. Funeral Services for Irene will be conducted in the Chapel of Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg at 2 p.m. on Tuesday August 14, 2018 with Pastor Ken Parrish officiating. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park.
