Iris Ann Fitzhugh, 79, of Lynchburg passed away in her home on Monday, March 15, 2021 with her family by her side. She was the widow of James David Fitzhugh.
She was born on February 17, 1942 a daughter of the late Thurman Nuckles and Lottie Otey Nuckles.
Iris was a member of Central Baptist Church and retired from C.V.T.C after 23 years, she had worked for Highs Ice Cream Store for 10 years prior.
She is survived by two sons, Timothy Dale Campbell, and Douglas Allen Campbell (Beth) both of Campbell County; two daughters, Donna S. Primm and Sharon C. Burns both of Lynchburg; three sisters, Patricia Sue Stump (Sam) of Lynchburg; Shirley Marie Hibbitt (Charlie) of Romane, Ga; and Frances Nuckles Jackson of Lynchburg; five grandchildren; 18 great-grandchild and one great-great grandchild; two special adopted family members Shawn P. Flynn and Nathan “Fatboy” Roberson.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 18, 2021 at Central Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight, Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg, 220 Breezewood Drive, Lynchburg, VA 24502.
Memorial contributions may be made to Children Shriners Hospital or Central Baptist Church Building fund.
